North Platte High School has a gym and football/soccer stadium. The city has a strong volunteer base and lots of state-of-the-art venues. Hotel rooms: 15,523 Major facility: CenturyLink Center Omaha is an 18,300-seat multipurpose indoor venue that hosts sports such as basketball, swim trials and volleyball. TD Ameritrade Park is a 24,000-seat stadium and home of the NCAA Men's Baseball College World Series and the Home Run Derby. Contact: Omaha Sports Commission, www.omahasports.org Sarpy County Situated directly to the south of Omaha, Sarpy County includes the cities of Bellevue, Gretna, La Vista, Papillion and Springfield, as well as Offutt Air Force Base. From baseball and golf to volley- ball and soccer, the area has a home for every sport. Hotel rooms: 2,261 Major facilities: Werner Park is a 6,434-seat Minor League ballpark. The Volleyball Academy is a new 50,000-square-foot volleyball facility with eight courts. La Vista Sports Complex has 12 soccer fields, four softball fields, one baseball field and two flag football fields. Halleck Park offers five softball fields, a baseball field, six T-ball fields and one football field. Gretna Sports Complex features a 42,000-square-foot indoor facility and two outdoor fields. The city offers a number of great venues, such as Tyson Events Center and IBP Ice Center. Hotel rooms: 2,000 Major facilities: Scenic Park Aquaplex houses a 50-meter, eight-lane competi- tion-style pool. Cardinal Park has four ball fields and three tennis courts. Klasey Park/ Voss Field offers two ball fields. Jeffrey C. Dible Soccer Complex consists of 15 full- size fields that can be converted to various sizes. Elwood Olsen Stadium has an NCAA-certified track and a football field. IBP Ice Center houses an ice rink. Tyson Events Center is a 10,000-seat multipur- pose venue that plays host to sports such as hockey and football. Contact: South Sioux City CVB, www.visitsouthsiouxcity.com n FIVB VOLLEYBALL NATIONS LEAGUE RETURNS TO LINCOLN The U.S. Women's National Volleyball Team recently returned to Lincoln, Nebraska, for its four-team round-robin pod May 15-17 in the opening week of the new FIVB Volleyball Na- tions League (VNL). The VNL, a 16-country league for both genders, replaces the FIVB World Grand Prix starting in 2018.
