Opening in Spring 2018, Speedway basketball facility is an eight-basketball court venue that can also accommodate 12 volleyball courts. The facility can hold over 1,200 people with its per- court bleacher seating and three upstairs viewing areas. The building boasts three concession stand areas, three different bathroom areas and is also equipped with a locker room and shower area for teams. Different entry points into the building and over 300 parking slots allows for more than one organization to use the facility at any given time. The digital scoreboards can display a large score for people to see in addition to schedules and directions for fans and teams. Of the eight courts, six are high school length and two are college basketball length courts. The privately owned and operated Speedway Village opened in fall 2015 with a 100,000-square-foot field house equipped with synthetic turf for in- door soccer. The facility also houses a 10,000-square-foot medical, rehabili- tation and sports performance institute which has been used by a variety of ath- letes including NFL players. This indoor fieldhouse compliments nine outdoor full-sized soccer fields that wrap around the campus. This summer, a new per- manent concession and restroom facility are to be added, along with plans for an outdoor amphitheater on the grounds. Speedway Village may have been designed with soccer, basketball and vol- leyball in mind, but its continued versatil- ity includes holding the indoor National Championships for USA Roller Sports. There is no better time to host an event in Lincoln. These renovated facilities continue to allow Lincoln to pursue larger events. n S Derek Bombeck, Sales Development Manager "Lincoln has a remark- able passion for hosting sports competitions of all sizes.
