Restaurants, shops and recreational opportunities also make this a popular area. Number of Soccer/Lax Fields: 24 rectangular fields (21 natural grass and three synthetic turf ); six fields are lighted; Maureen Hendricks Field accommodates 5,000 spectators and includes a press box, box office, video board and scoreboard. Year Built/Open: 2000 Major Soccer/Lacrosse Tournaments: Bethesda Premier Girls' and Boys' Cups, Potomac Memorial Day Tournament, Discovery Cup, EDP Fall Kickoff, August Cup, Rush for the Cup, Em- bassy Cup and Cherry Blossom Classic. Two complex-wide lacrosse tournaments are held in July: FLG in 3D Summer Shootout and the Top of the Bay Capital City Lax Festival. In addition, the US Youth Soccer National Championships were held in 2002, 2003 and 2014; and the ACC Men's Soccer Championships in 2013 and 2014. The Maryland State Cup Youth Tournament is also held here. The Riverfront Museum complex is home to the Burpee Museum of Natural History, the Discovery Center Museum and the Rockford Art Museum. The Anderson Japanese Gardens are across the Rock River. Number of Soccer/Lax Fields: 27 full-size soccer fields Year Built/Open: 1995 as a small complex; 11 new fields installed in 2011; 6 new turf fields with lights added in 2015; one new full indoor field added in 2017 Major Soccer/Lacrosse Tournaments: IHSA State High School Soccer Finals, professional soccer games with international teams and USL W-League Soccer Finals; Rockford Lacrosse games.
