www.sportseventsmagazine.com 2018 Soccer & Lacrosse Fields & Facilities Sourcebook 15 In a recent contest, SportsEvents readers and Facebook friends picked their favorites from 30 nominees for the Ultimate Soccer and Lacrosse Destinations and Venues across the United States. Reaching more than 16,300 individuals, voting for these top destinations and venues that appeal to both players and spectators determined the winners. A complete list of the 30 nominees can be found on SportsEvents' Facebook page. The Ultimate Soccer & Lacrosse Destinations & Venues are: Foley Sports Tourism - Foley, Alabama Located seven miles from the sandy beaches of the Alabama Gulf Coast, Foley features a historic downtown with shops and an artist community in addition to the Foley Alabama Railroad Muse- um – Model Train Exhibit, the Foley Depot Museum and the Charles J. Ebert, Jr. Memorial Train. Number of Soccer/Lax Fields: 21 soccer (can be split for youth bringing the number to 39); 21 lacrosse; the championship field is equipped with TV-ready lighting, a press box and seating for up to 1,000; 16 fields are located at Foley Sports Tourism with an additional five fields at the Foley Sports Complex near downtown Foley, about 3.5 miles away. Major Soccer/Lacrosse Tournaments: Sun Belt Conference Women's Soccer Championship, Alabama Soccer Association State Cup, National Intramural and Recreational Sports Association Men's and Women's National Championships, National Junior College Athletic Association Division I Women's Soccer Championships. Year Built/Open: 2016 Facilities: 90,000-square-foot multi-use indoor events center adjacent to the fields.
