March 2018 4 This issue features our 13 th Annual State of the Industry Report including analysis and commentary from our founder and publisher, Talty O'Connor. Throughout the year, the SportsEvents staff gathers information from our industry associates through interviews, face-to-face meetings, at conferences and through survey responses. That information ultimately culminates in data that provides the basis of the economic impact, participation numbers, membership figures and the overall big picture of how well the sports events industry is doing year-to-year. As we compile information, we're hoping to gather pertinent data that will help make your job a little easier. We want to know what keeps sports events planners, rights holders and destination officials up at night? What are your concerns and what solutions have you found that may help make our industry stronger? For 13 years, O'Connor's passion for youth and amateur sports and the sports events industry has been demonstrated time and time again. The Annual State of the Industry Report and the Economic Impact and Trends Survey was the first such look at the sports events industry and remains a respected analysis of the trends. Thank you to those of you who responded to our call to action when we requested responses for the annual survey. The information is invaluable and is used by many organizations to gauge the heartbeat of the industry. As you'll read in Talty's report, the business of managing sports events is doing quite well, thank you, and we continue on with an optimistic outlook for the future of the industry. Thank you to all for your feedback and passionate dedication to the jobs you do so well. The magazine will continue to use the information provided to guide the editorial direction as we move forward. SportsEvents Magazine is here to assist you in the business of managing, creat- ing and executing sports events in your communities and across the country.
