S.P.O.R.T.S. 2018 in Winston-Salem The Wake Forest Demon Deacon made a grand entrance to reveal that the 11 th Annual Relationship Conference is heading east. We hope to see you in Winston-Salem September 1 O -13, 2 O 18. Down To Business... The breakfast buffet, sponsored by Panama City Beach, and Bloody Mary's, sponsored by Virginia's Blue Ridge Sports, included an eye-opening discussion from Amy Griffin, FIFA Women's World Cup Champion and association women's soccer coach at the University of Washington. Griffin shared her quest to learn more about artificial turf fields using crumb rubber and the correlation between goalies who have been diagnosed with cancer. The crumb rubber fields are installed across the country on sports fields used by high school and youth athletes. Day 3: Closing Festivities What could be more fun than visiting a real working Iowa farm in the early fall? Zip lining, pig racing, pumpkin shooting, hay rides, haunted houses, roaming zombies and some of the best home cooking, craft beer and spirits along with a rocking band was the perfect send- off party at the end of an amazing week. But one item of business remained… Grand Annual Luncheon Legendary Wrestling Coach Dan Gable who is best known for his tenure as head coach at the University of Iowa, shared his coaching stories, life lessons and how he rose to Olympic gold medal athlete and a national championship wrestling coach with 15 NCAA titles. Sponsored by Valley Forge Sports, Gable entertained the lunch crowd with stories of athletic prowess, com- mitment and family. The Grand Annual Luncheon was provided by Dublin Ohio. Solution Room The hot topics of interest to attendees were written on ta- bles in the Solution Room and attendees returned to share ideas and find solutions in a lively conversation that encour- aged discussion and a better understanding of key issues. One-On-One Appointments Building relationships while doing business and having fun is what S.P.O.R.T.S. is all about. Rights holders and DMOs wasted no time in getting down to business while sharing all they had to offer in the two appoint- ment sessions on the final day of the conference.
