Two of these new ven- ues are the John Breslow Ice Center and Speedway Village. The John Breslow Ice Center, an $11 million dollar, state-of-the art facility recently opened and occupies 54,000 square feet that includes a National Hockey League-sized sheet of ice. The new rink can be used for men's and women's hockey teams, sports clubs and intramural leagues. Other uses include curling and broomball events and the facility will be available and open to the public for recreational ice skating. The Ice Center will be operated by University of Nebraska-Lincoln and managed by Rink Management Services Corporation. The national management company is one of the largest operators of ice skating facilities in the U.S., currently running 31 ice rinks in 17 states, in addition to 44 other recreational properties. Speedway Village is the premier destination for sports innovation and family entertainment in the region. The Village features nine full-size outdoor fields for soccer, football and other events. These fields are Barenbrug HTG Bluegrass Fields measuring 110 yards by 70 yards. The Village also features a 95,000-square-foot Field House with 50,000 square feet of playing surface that can be configured in multiple ways for soccer, football, ultimate frisbee, bubble ball and other recreational events.
