November 2016 4 www.sportseventsmagazine.com A toddler takes her first precious steps and our imagination explodes with endless dreams of what could follow. Simone Biles soars through the Brazilian air at the Olympics and once again we redefine our ideas of human limits. We watch athletes perform mind-boggling feats in person and can enjoy an endless barrage of replays each night. We marvel at physical prowess while far too often taking it for granted. Occasionally, we have the opportunity to really appreciate the miracle of the human body and the insa- tiable spirit that drives it. As I followed a group of golfers around St. Andrews Golf Club taking photos of their outing on the eve of S.P.O.R.T.S. The Relationship Conference in Overland Park, KS, I didn't think twice about the countless hours everyone spent on honing and refining their golf games. I've chased athletes around for most of my life. Their various levels of abilities are simply part of the game. When I sat down and looked at the photos, a new perspective came to light. Over and over, I looked at the series of photos of Joel Everts teeing off (right). The more I looked, the more mes- merized. His balance. His strength. His agility. I remembered my daughters stumbling about for their first steps. I fast-forwarded to them kicking a soccer ball as they ran. Eventually, I saw them floating about the volley- ball court as young women. Sports allow us to push our bodies and appreciate the challenges we can overcome. The human body is nothing short of amazing, something we always take care of an honor. EDITOR'S NOTE: Joel Everts is Sports Sales Manager at the Green Bay CVB.
