The $12 million, 40- acre soccer facility will have 10 outdoor fields with lighting on the four artifi- cial-turf fields and six natural fields. The 10,000-square-foot building will include four indoor turf fields, training and coach- ing rooms, a sports-equipment pro shop, a medical office staffed with EMTs, and a cafe serving healthy food like wraps and salads. MINNESOTA The Red Baron Arena & Expo Is Minnesota's Newest Facility MARSHALL — The Red Baron Arena & Expo opened in Marshall in June with two ice sheets, a state-of-the-art video board and a high-quality sound system. The venue has hosted a summer hockey camp, summer three-on-three camp, an introductory hock- ey clinic and Sounds of Summer concerts. The facility will anchor the planned Schwan Regional Amateur Sports Center. MISSOURI Ballparks of America Opens in Branson BRANSON — Ballparks of America is the only facility in the world to feature two- third scale replicas of five iconic stadiums spanning the history of baseball. It has stay- and-play youth baseball accommodations and five lighted synthetic turf fields. Among the amenities are team suites with HDTV, a space to hang-out, and personal lockers. The residence halls have air conditioning and private showers allowing teams to stay at the complex. Gateway Village Sports Complex To Be The Largest In Missouri GRANDVIEW — Gateway Village Sports Complex is a planned mixed-use sporting complex sitting on 240 acres with more than 7 million square feet of retail, hotel, dining, office, entertain- ment and residential space. The complex will feature 14 all-turf lighted soccer fields, which will make it the largest turf complex in the world. The state-of-the- art, 150,000-square-foot field house will support volleyball, basketball, and indoor soccer and futsal tournaments and league play. It is designed to become a desti- nation in the United States for players, coaches and referees to train, develop and educate on a year-round basis. Its antici- pated opening is Spring 2017. NORTH CAROLINA Pickleball Courts Added At Fairchild Community Center BURLINGTON — The City of Burling- ton has added new pickleball courts to the Fairchild Community Center, a 28,000 square foot facility situated on 10 acres with two full-size basketball courts. The courts feature twelve fiberglass back- boards with breakaway rims, an indoor volleyball and two badminton/pickleball courts, and a shuffleboard court. The multi-purpose room features a big screen TV, kitchen, and plenty of space for rentals. Phase 1 Of Bryan Park Soccer Complex Expansion GREENSBORO — The first phase of the $4.5 million Bryan Park project will expand it to 18 regulation-size fields. The project will build three new natural-grass and two synthetic-turf fields, renovate three existing fields to make them regulation size and add lighting to five existing fields. Construction of Phases 1 and 2 is expected to be com- plete by Spring 2017. Greensboro officials expect the expansion project will allow the facility to host the US Youth Soccer South- ern Regional Tournament in 2017 and 2018.
