ANTHONY BURTON Director of Recreational Services Village of Matteson Matteson, IL 5 Years In That Position As the Director of Recreational Services, Anthony Burton oversees seven community parks, two community centers, fve neighborhood parks, and several pedes- trian and bike trails through the Village of Matteson. His organization's unique approach works to ensure everyone can enjoy these ameni- ties. "We are diferent because we have a real focus on serving the entire family," he says. "We have something for all age groups and work diligently to uphold our motto 'Fitness Focused. Family Friendly.'" Last year, the Village of Matteson had the greatest success in providing local and region- al sporting events and programs for their seniors. Burton wants to extend the reach of his community's programs, but that's one of his biggest challenges. Despite that challenge, Burton has been able to increase awareness of Matteson's recreational services through various partner- ships. "We have partnered with several local schools, hospitals, businesses and the Chicago Southland Convention and Visitors Bureau," he says.
