According to President and National Director Tim McManus, it's also brought families closer together. A common challenge for event planners is keeping costs affordable for traveling families, but McManus is driven to make State Wars Hockey too inviting to miss. "As always in the sports industry you are battling the economy and the constant rise in costs for families to travel to events," he says. "Our philosophy has always been to create such an awesome environment and exciting tournament that families can't miss it!" Last summer's event proved to be a can't-miss. According to McManus, it was the largest to date with 315 teams participating. Teams from 30 different states converged on St. Peters, MO and its hotels, restaurants, stores and attractions. State Wars Hockey places restrictions on how its teams are comprised, which adds two unique aspects to the competition.
