Venues Sanford Sports Complex To Host Major Running Events SIOUX FALLS, S.D.—The Sanford Sports Complex in Sioux Falls will host three major prep running events this fall on its new fat course featuring numerous turns. The Nike Heartland Pre- view will be held Sept. 12; the high school state cross-coun- try meet will be held Oct. 24; and the Nike Cross Heartland Regional will be held Nov. 15. In addition to the new cross-country course, the 162-acre sports complex is composed of The Pentagon for basketball and volleyball; the Fieldhouse for athletic training and indoor sports; The Scheels Ice Plex for ice-skating and hockey; and Match Pointe for tennis. USSSA, Brevard Ink 20-Year Deal For New Headquarters BREVARD COUNTY, Fla.— Brevard County commission- ers approved a 20-year deal that will see the U.S. Specialty Sports Association (USSSA) move its ama- teur sports operations from Kissimmee to Space Coast Stadium in Viera. USSSA said it would bring at least 175 days a year of sports events to the Space Coast region initially focusing on youth baseball and youth and adult softball. USSSA has also said it would guarantee the area at least 75,000 room nights in its frst full year of operation, increasing to 100,000 room nights by year three. The county would reimburse USSSA up to $10 million for improvements the organization plans to make to the stadium complex, includ- ing construction of 10 new artifcial-turf felds, converting natural-turf felds to artifcial turf, and the addition of new lighting. n
