t NATURAL Venues About 3,500 runners are expected to partici- pate in the Pensacola Double Bridge Run 15K presented by Publix, set for Feb. 16, 2016, in Pensacola, Fla. The Pensacola Double Bridge Run 15K h as runners crossing two bridges, one over Pensacola Bay and one over Santa Rosa Sound. This is a unique run for several reasons. First, it starts in the historic Pensacola down- town area, which is actu- ally the first European settle- ment in America, said Ray Palmer of the Pensacola Sports Association, the event's organizer. "It's a point-to-point race," he said. Runners start at a bayfront park and run through the historic district of downtown, then cross a three-mile bridge. They then run through another community (Gulf Breeze, Fla.) and cross over a second bridge," he said. "When you get to the top of the bridge, you can see the Gulf of Mexico and the sands of Santa Rosa Island. That nat- ural combination along the water and over the water and back out to the beach makes for a great run."
