Gale Wickersham Athletic Complex includes a football field, two soccer fields, a track and two softball fields. Convention center: Mid-America Center has a 30,000-square-foot arena and seating for 8,000. The venue has hosted sports such as wrestling, gymnastics, cheer and volleyball. The variety of sports facil- ities, combined with more than 13,000 hotel rooms, hundreds of local restaurants and world-class attractions, make Greater Des Moines an ideal destination for a sporting event. The James Cownie Soccer Complex is home to 12 grass fields. Centrally located, Dubuque is also very accessible and is less than a three- hour drive from Chicago, Minneapolis, Madison and Des Moines. Five Flags Center is a multi- purpose indoor venue. Mystique Com- munity Ice Center is a 66,000-square foot facility that seats 3,500. The city is nearby Coaralville and North Liberty, which, combined, offer dozens of venues. Hotel rooms: 2,500 University of Iowa facilities: Kinnick Stadium is a 70,000-seat football stadium with a synthetic-turf field. Carver-Hawk- eye Arena is a 15,500-seat multipurpose venue that hosts basketball, wrestling, volleyball, gymnastics and more. The Campus Recreation & Wellness Center houses a nanotorium with an indoor track and volleyball/basketball courts. The city has a long, rich professional team history with the Sioux City Musketeers, Sioux City Bandits, Sioux City Explorers and Penn Corp Softball. Hotel rooms: 800 Major facility: Tyson Events Center is a flexible indoor multipurpose venue. Mercy Field at Lewis and Clark Park has a 3,800-person capacity. IBP Ice Center has one sheet of ice. HyVee Ball Park at Chautauqua Park has five softball fields. Riverside Soccer Complex offers 16 fields. Elwood Olsen Stadium includes a track and football/soccer field. Mason Family Tennis Complex has six courts. Riverside Park Sports Complex's Miracle Field is scheduled to open in September. The park has eight baseball diamonds, six tennis courts, a pool and six shelters. Convention center: The Sioux City Convention Center offers 54,000 square feet of space and is just seven miles from the Sioux Gateway Airport.
