The central Texas city also offers a variety of hotels for every budget. The 29th Street Com- plex hosts softball. Convention center: McNease Conven- tion Center offers more than 12,000 square feet and can accommodate up to 2,000. With top facilities that are in close proximity to hotels, the overall pack- age is top notch. Hotel rooms: 46,000 Major facilities: AT&T Center is an 18,581-seat basketball venue. Alamodome is a multipurpose venue that seats 72,000. Northside ISD Swim Center houses an Olympic-size pool. Toyota Field is a soccer venue with seating for 8,296. The Nelson W. Wolff Stadium is a Minor League base- ball park. The McFarlin Tennis Center has 22 hard courts. Convention center: The Henry B. Gon- zalez Convention Center was completely renovated in 2016 and hosts events such as gymnastics, cheer and dance, volleyball and basketball. At a constant 72 degrees, the San Marcos River hosts whitewater competitions even in the middle of winter. Hotel rooms: 2,663 Major facilities: Five Mile Dam Soccer Complex has 10 fields. NCFD Farm Club offers five lighted youth baseball fields. The Gary Softball Complex includes eight lighted fields. Ramon Lucio Baseball Park houses four lighted youth baseball fields. Rio Vista Tennis Complex features six outdoor courts. Convention center: The San Marcos Conference Center has 78,800 square feet of flexible space and hosts sports such as boxing and cheer and dance. Contact: San Marcos CVB, Seguin Seguin, one of the oldest towns in Texas, is a frequent host of sporting events from softball to cycling. Being in the south-cen- tral portion of the state, it's also a rather convenient destination. Hotel rooms: 600 Major facilities: Seguin Events Com- plex includes Smokey Joe Williams Field, the Volleyball Complex with 18 courts, four lighted softball fields, a covered arena, ex- hibit buildings, a dance hall and 250 horse stalls. The Fields at Huber Ranch includes five competition fields. Max Starcke Park and Chaparral Golf Club both offer 18-hole courses. Lake McQueeney and Lake Placid host water sports. Contact: Seguin CVB, Shenandoah In east Texas is Shenandoah. The city is about 35 miles north of Houston. Hotels: Nine properties Major facility: Woodforest Bank Stadi- um has a football stadium and natatorium. Contact: Shenandoah CVB, Sherman Sherman is a small city in north Texas near the Oklahoma border. The city is about 40 miles north of Dallas/Fort Worth. Hotels: 10 properties Major facilities: Center Street Park has two football/soccer fields. Cherry Street Park includes a basketball court. Ely Park contains a softball field. Fairview Park has four tennis courts, multiple soccer/football fields, three softball fields and a baseball field.
