Columbus Columbus is situated in west Georgia on the banks of the Chattahoochee River. To promote the city as a sports destination, the Columbus CVB, Parks and Recreation Department, and Sports Council have formed T.E.A.M. Columbus. "This cooper- ation brings together all of the aspects needed for a truly one-stop shop approach—facilities management, event management, housing, accommodations and marketing support along with first- class customer service," said Merri Sherman of the Columbus Sports Council. Hotel rooms: 4,300 New swimming facility: A natatorium is currently under construction and is scheduled to open in fall 2013. Plans are for the 57,000-square-foot facility to have a 10-lane Olympic pool, a four- lane therapeutic pool and seating capacity for 900 spectators. Cumming-Forsyth County In north Georgia is Cumming. The Forsyth County Parks and Recreation Department was awarded Amateur Softball Association's James Farrell Award every year from 2008-2011, said Anna Taylor Barlow, director of tourism for the Cumming-Forsyth County Chamber of Commerce.
