December 2016 92 CVBs & Sports Commissions Sponsored Content Welcome To The Sports Capital Of Texas! he City of Round Rock, Texas, has long been regarded as the premier destination for amateur, youth and recreational sports within the state…and for good reason! Bolstered by an economic base that includes the headquarters of Dell and Emerson, our dynamic city has invested heavily in the infrastructure needed to support a variety of sports, entertainment and business events. Through the years, Round Rock has funded millions to its sports facilities, including the recent addition of the Round Rock Sports Center, which adds a world-class indoor showcase facility to the championship outdoor venues that originally earned Round Rock its Sports Capital of Texas reputation. The Round Rock Sports Center ( opened in January 2014, and has hosted numerous events including basketball, volleyball and wrestling tournaments; table tennis tournaments; a speaking event by a renowned children's author that had over 2,500 in attendance; a 700-seat formal dinner banquet; a celebration dance with more than 2,000 in atten- dance; a cake expo; a wedding expo; and even a corporate brainstorming retreat. To say that this new space is in high demand is an understatement! The $14.9 million facility boasts 82,800 square feet of indoor space with 47,775 square feet of flexible, open, play- able space. Several configurations are available, including six high school bas- ketball courts, 12 high school volleyball courts, three NCAA basketball courts, or four badminton/ pickleball courts. The indoor sports center has many great features: • Ceiling-mounted basketball goals, volleyball stan- dards and divider curtains by Porter Athletic. • Bio-Cushion Classic maple flooring system by Robbins Sports Surfaces. • HD video wall for displaying tourna- ment brackets, promotional videos or live sporting events. • Twelve 60" LCD scoreboard displays programmable by individual court or linkable by sport. • Upper-level VIP style spectator seating with individual seats, arm rests and cup holders. • Tournament room, players lounge, team rooms, referees lounge and athletic training room. • Restaurant-quality concessions service and patio seating area. • Three large multi-purpose rooms that can be subdivided into nine smaller rooms. • Seating for more than 1,400 spectators and more than 500 parking spots with a total capacity of 3,053. In addition to the many indoor fea- tures, the Round Rock Sports Center has a beautiful outdoor pavilion and plaza. The covered pavilion features a multi- sport turf surface, playground, concession area and restroom facilities. The open-air plaza has a children's play area available for family, friends and event participants. We also have a tailgating grassy area for more family fun. In 2017, Round Rock is welcoming a new addition to their family of facilities: The Round Rock Multipurpose Complex. Once completed, the Complex will pro- vide 10 new state-of-the art fields, both synthetic and grass, for outdoor sports and tournaments, including Ultimate Frisbee, soccer, rugby, lacrosse and flag football. As the official "Sports Capital of Texas," we pride ourselves on world- class facilities with the capacity to handle almost any sport. The indoor facility hosts a wide range of sports, including badminton, basketball, darts, gymnastics, cheer, dance, horseshoe pitching, dodge ball, rock climbing, fencing, powerlifting, weightlifting, martial arts, archery, wrestling, bocce ball, national table tennis and volleyball. In addition to our new Round Rock Sports Center, we can host virtually every sporting event you can imagine from football and baseball to inline skating marathons and ultimate Frisbee champion- ships.
