December 2016 50 www.sportseventsmagazine.com CVBs & Sports Commissions Sponsored Content ight smack in the middle of the great American Southwest is Plano, Texas. Plano is 75 square miles of sport fields and facilities maintained by experienced park profes- sionals who work seamlessly with Visit Plano, the city's award-winning hospitality bureau. Our forte is matching your sports event to our high-quality venue and pro- viding access to the hotels, restaurants and attractions your family enjoys. Plano is ranked among the top five in The Sporting News "Best Sport Towns" and has been named a "Top Soccer City" by Livability.com. Plano routinely hosts 250-team soccer tournaments and is headquarters to the 850-team Labor Day Invitational hosted by Plano Youth Soccer Association. National sport groups are starting to put down roots in Plano with 150-team lacrosse events. And, not to be outdone in Texas, 7-on-7 football is estab- lishing itself as a popular off-season option for the skill positions. Country club sports abound in and around Plano with five public golf courses and two highly rated private clubs in Gleneagles and Prestonwood country clubs. For tennis, Collin College has 18 lighted courts just a short distance from 20 lighted courts at High Point Tennis Center. These facilities annually host a men's college championship in addition to numerous USTA and charitable events. LifeTime Fitness just opened a new indoor tennis facility with 10 indoor climate- controlled courts. Plano started the indoor basketball/vol- leyball facility craze with their first Plano Sports Authority 30 years ago, and PSA has become the cornerstone for PrimeTime Sports' annual basketball championship, which brought in over 1,000 teams in 2016. PSA now has four top-quality wood floor facilities within a 15-mile range within Collin County. Each PSA has an average of eight full-sized courts and an indoor turf field. More than 2,000 restaurants and attrac- tions and 5,300 hotel rooms easily accom- modate the hospitality needs of large and small groups. We are here for you and we want to make it easy and fun for you to play in Plano. n R We Invite You To Play In Plano Cissy Aberg Sports Sales Manager (972) 941-5849 cissya@plano.gov www.visitplano.com/ sports-facilities Plano CVB "We can host more teams on the best-main- tained fields and facilities in the North Texas region."
