December 2016 46 www.sportseventsmagazine.com CVBs & Sports Commissions Sponsored Content ring your event to beautiful upstate New York. Greater Binghamton is at the center of it all and so easy to get to! Our location at the junction of Interstates 81 and 88 and New York Route 17 (future I-86) makes travel quick and convenient. You'll feel the pulse of big city life, but with a definite upstate appeal. Sports reign supreme—from the Bing- hamton Senators (AHL affiliate of the Ottawa Senators) to the LGT Professional Tennis Tournament (Challenger series)— from the Binghamton Rumble Ponies (AA farm team for the New York Mets) to the Dick's Sporting Goods Open (PGA TOUR Champions)—we have your passion. But sports don't end at the professional level. We have a Division I NCAA program at Binghamton University. Tournaments held in the area range from Elite Gymnastics to recreational rugby. School-age athletes from around the United State and Canada visit our area for the John Mack Memo- rial Lacrosse Tournament, and we also host several New York State High School Championships. Facilities in Greater Binghamton are top notch! The Greater Binghamton Sports Complex is the largest indoor dome in the nation. The Binghamton University campus offers the 6,000-seat Events Center, two Turf Field stadiums for soccer and lacrosse, as well as newly renovated tennis courts, baseball and softball fields. Area high schools offer turf fields, gyms and pools. The Floyd L. Maines Veterans Memorial Arena can host ice hockey, basketball, gymnastics, boxing, wrestling and more. Don't let our "small town" fool you. We have hosted world-class competitions like the 2008 AHL All-Star Classic, the Amer- ica East Men's and Women's Basketball Championships, the Esynchro Age Group Nationals, and the Empire State Games. Even time away from the competition is a pleasure. Hit the links — we were ranked #13 for "golfability" by Golf Digest magazine. Take in a festival, hike or bike on countless trails in the area, or dine at one of more than 250 restaurants. We invite you to bring your events to Greater Binghamton.
