The locals have been dishing out wholesome family entertainment for decades and have built state-of-the- art sports venues to serve up a win- ning stay, on and off the fields. Branson's RecPlex is a $14 million complex that combines 44,000 square feet of indoor facilities with 42 acres of mani- cured fields for baseball, softball and soccer. In- side, two full-size basketball courts can be divided for volleyball or other court sports in front of bleacher seating, with com- plete locker room and concession capabilities. Outside, four baseball/softball fields with seating for 200 at each field have a ticket booth, concession and restroom facilities as well as warm-up areas. Two multi-use fields can be used for two adult-size soccer matches or four youth- size. RecPlex also offers a 12,250-square- foot waterpark with six lanes for lap swimming or competition. Located across from the charming Bran- son Landing shopping and dining district on Lake Taneycomo, the Branson Convention Center delivers more than 110,000 square feet of flexible space. The sparkling new Ballparks of America features replicas of five iconic baseball stadiums at two-third scale with state-of- the-art synthetic turf and lighting to play well into the starry night, but its on-site amenities are first rate, offering team suites with HDTV, a space to hang-out, and personal lock- ers. The residence halls have air condi- tioning and private showers. There are more than 16,500 rooms available in the Branson/Lakes Area ranging from smaller facilities along the famous Highway 76 strip with swimming pools, waterpark, miniature golf courses and family restaurants all the way up to four-star resorts.
