Professional Sports Venues The 12,000-seat, multi-use events center known as The Ford Center at The Star opened in August 2016 in Frisco and is the new home of Dallas Cowboys World Headquarters and Training Facility. The mixed-use development campus also includes 51,000 square feet of restaurants (opening in early 2017) and the upscale Omni Frisco Hotel with 300 hotel rooms, which will open in summer 2017. Dr Pepper Arena—the official prac- tice facility for the NHL Dallas Stars, and home to the NBA D-League basketball team Texas Legends—features a 6,100- seat arena that can accommodate con- certs, opening ceremonies, and a variety of sporting events like basketball, gym- nastics and ice events. This last year, Dr Pepper Arena hosted the NCAA Division II Men's Basketball Elite Eight National Championship Series and was the first- ever Texas venue to do so. Home to the Frisco RoughRiders, the Texas Rangers AA affiliate, Dr Pepper Ballpark seats 10,000 with overflow in the berm for 1,200 and hosts baseball, concerts and corporate events. A home- town favorite for not only professional baseball, but championship high school and college games, Frisco's "field of dreams" is the first ballpark in history to feature its bullpens surrounded by seats, behind first and third bases. Tournament Venues Fieldhouse USA, a 144,000-square-foot, state-of-the-art indoor sports facility, is part of the Sports Village USA complex devoted to providing recreational and competitive sports for basketball, volley- ball, indoor soccer and football.
