CVBs & Sports Commissions Sponsored Content December 2016 104 AN EPIC POOL Coming early 2018, El Paso is in- troducing its first competition-ready natatorium facility, designed to meet USA Swimming standards. The 50-meter-by-25- yard pool will have eight long lanes and 24 short lanes with three different depths for competitive timed swimming, water polo and programmed swimming events. Be one of the first to compete with the roar of 780 spectators cheering your team. MEGA VENUES We already have countless fields, courts, tracks and diamonds, but that's not stopping us from adding some more. Sprawling over 92 acres, the Eastside Regional Park will be the largest city park El Paso has ever seen. Over the next few years, we'll be creating a killer park with an indoor 50-meter pool, six flat fields for football and soccer, four baseball/softball diamonds, 12 handball courts, and four volleyball courts, all competition ready. The park will also include a BMX/skate fa- cility, recreational pool, rock-climbing wall, recreation center, splash pads, and a lazy river for downtime between dominating the competition. The entire park is expected to be complete in 2020. WICKED EVENTS El Paso knows how to take any marathon to a new degree. Qualify for the Boston Marathon in the Michelob Ultra marathon, half marathon and 5K race that winds through historic and scenic roads. Climb to altitudes higher than 7,000 feet in the Franklin Mountains Trail Run. Join climbers from around the globe at the annual Hueco Rock Rodeo rock-climbing and bouldering competition. Or leave your competitors in the dust at the Puzzler Mountain Bike Race and climb the Franklin Moun- tains in the 13-, 35- and 50-mile races. They're all sure to challenge even the most advanced competitor. THE ROYAL TREATMENT You get red-carpet treatment here, from media coverage to special greetings at the airport. Your team will feel like the VIPs they are in our city. We help you plan everything, from shopping, dining and theater, to custom activities, right down to finding the best of authentic border food. El Paso is a friendly city, so you'll get smiles wherever you go. BUDGETS GO FURTHER The way El Paso can deliver on a budget will spoil you for taking your team anywhere else. We do things the big cities can't: an authentic Mexican food tour, Broadway show tickets, Triple-A baseball, amusement- and water-park tick- ets, art and history museums, brand-new boutique hotels, and did we mention the food? Yeah, it'll all fit your budget. n 1 Five Ways El Paso Brings It For Sports Brooke Underwood, Director of Convention Development (915) 534-0692 Destination El Paso "We hosted the Conference USA Men's and Women's Basketball Championships in El Paso in 2011 and thoroughly enjoyed our experience. So when Destination El Paso sub- mitted a bid to host again in 2014, we were thrilled and jumped at the opportunity to work with this dynamic and accommodating group of individuals, and once again, were not disappointed." —Judy Macleod, Commissioner Conference USA 2 3 4 5 Westside Natatorium: 50-meter-by-25-yard pool with eight long lanes and 24 short lanes.
