Macon Tennis tournaments are major in Macon, a city in the heart of the state. Convention center: The 102,000-square-foot Edgar H. Wilson Convention Centre has become Georgia's largest convention event facility outside metro Atlanta. Attached is the 9,000-capac- ity Macon Coliseum, which has hosted Georgia High School Association wres- tling along with Georgia High School Association basketball for many years. Rome Rome has expanded its sports résumé with the addition of the Rome Tennis Center at Berry College, the largest hard-court facility in the country. Hotel rooms: 850+ Hotel tax rate: 15 percent Major facilities: Rome Tennis Center at Berry College boasts 60 USTA standard asphalt courts with six NCAA regulation courts, three center courts for tournament and collegiate play, one exhibition court and eight courts for players 10 and under. Barron Stadium hosts football, soccer, lacrosse, and track and field. Alto Park Softball Complex is a 68-acre complex fea- turing eight fields. Convention center: The Forum is a 4,000-seat multipurpose venue that has provided the backdrop for everything from basketball and wrestling to motocross and rodeos.
