Hampton, Virginia
War Memorial Stadium
This historic facility serves as home
to the Peninsula Pilots of the Coastal
Plain League, but over the years has
hosted teams including the Brooklyn
Dodgers' Piedmont League—the
facility's first "home team"—and the
Peninsula leagues of the Cincinnati
Reds, Kansas City Athletics, Houston
Astros, Philadelphia Phillies,
Montreal Expos and Chicago
White Sox.
Events hosted: Last May, the facility
hosted the 2015 United States
Collegiate Athletic Association
Baseball National Championships.
Interesting facts: War Memorial
Stadium is one of the few all-wood-
en ballparks still in existence. The
venue was given its name as a trib-
ute to those who fought for the
United States in World War II.
Extras: The venue features a state-
of-the-art video/score board, field
lighting system, 17 patio-style corpo-
rate boxes, a picnic area, a full-serv-
ice Tiki Bar, new dugouts, a new
sound system, a party deck, renovat-
ed clubhouse and restroom facilities.
