COLORADO
SPRINGS—USA Cycling
announced the 2014
Cyclo-cross National
Calendar (CXNC). The
purpose of the CXNC is
to recognize top domestic
events and provide them
with the opportunity to
achieve UCI recognition.
Those races that seek UCI
inscription on the USA
Cycling Pro Cyclo-cross
Calendar (Pro CX) must first be a part of the CXNC for at least one year.
Four events make up this year's CXNC, starting with the Florida CX National in
Dade City, Fla., on Aug. 31. That will be followed by the Sept. 21 GP Clark
Natwick in San Francisco, Calif., and the Nov. 1 VeloCX in Blaine, Minn. The
2014 calendar concludes Dec. 6-7 with the Ruts 'N Guts in Tulsa, Okla.
Among the requirements for inclusion on the CXNC is an elite cash purse, as
well as the agreement to submit race results to USA Cycling within 24 hours for
proper rankings calculation.

USOC Takes Next Steps
Toward U.S. Olympic Bid
USA Cycling Announces
Cyclo-Cross National Calendar
COLORADO SPRINGS—Representatives
from Boston, Los Angeles, San Francisco and
Washington, D.C., joined the leadership of the
United States Olympic Committee (USOC)
recently for a bid city briefing, marking the
next step in the USOCʼs domestic process as
it considers a U.S. bid to host the 2024
Olympic and Paralympic Games.
"There is a great deal of work left to do
before we can make a decision, but I am
more optimistic than ever that a U.S. bid for
the 2024 Games can be successful," said
USOC Chairman Larry Probst.
In early December, the International
Olympic Committee Extraordinary Session
will take place, during which the Olympic
Agenda 2020, which will shape the future of
the Olympic Movement, will be finalized.
Following that meeting, likely in early 2015,
the USOC will decide whether to make a bid
and will select a city if a bid is pursued.
