Rome In the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains in northwest Georgia is Rome, a city with three rivers—Etowah, Oostanaula and Coosa— that frame the down- town dis- trict. In 2016, the city will welcome the Tennis Center of Georgia, a new facility that will house 62 hard surface courts and 12 USTA courts for players aged 10 and under. Hotel rooms: 800+ Major facilities: Barron Stadium houses an Astroturf football field with an eight- lane track. State Mutual Stadium is a 5,000-seat baseball park. Miracle Field, which is located adjacent to State Mutual Stadium, is a specialized baseball field. The 68-acre Alto Park Softball Complex features eight softball fields. West Third Tennis Complex houses 16 hard surface courts. Convention center: The Forum is an 83,000-square-foot facility with a 20,000- square-foot arena that can host sports like basketball, indoor football, rodeos, wrestling and gymnastics. Savannah Centrally located between Atlanta, Jacksonville, Charleston and Columbus, Savannah is a popular tourist destination thanks to its beautiful architecture, history and cui- sine. The city is also known for its commitment to hosting sports events, drawing more than 35 events every year, such as The Color Run and the Rock 'n' Roll Marathon and Half Marathon. The beautiful city can host practically every sort of sport, from soccer and swimming to baseball and lacrosse. Hotel rooms: 15,000 Major facilities: Grayson Stadium is a 4,000-seat ballpark. Armstrong Atlantic State University offers a basketball and volleyball arena that can seat 4,000, as well as a 1,000-seat aquatics center and intramural practice field. The Savannah College of Art and Design boasts the Roland C. Waranch Equestrian Center, an 80-acre horse show venue. The SCAD Athletics Complex houses a lighted field for lacrosse and soccer. Savannah State University contains an 8,500-seat football stadium with championship track and field capabilities and a 6,000-seat arena that can accommodate basketball, volleyball and gymnastics. Convention center: The Savannah International Trade and Convention Center features a 97,750-square-foot exhibit hall. The Westin Savannah Harbor Golf Resort and Spa is adjacent to the center. The city hosts many regional and national youth baseball and softball tournaments, as well as a variety of tennis tournaments on both the regional and state level. Hotel rooms: 4,009 Major facilities: Freedom Park is a 250+-acre park with a baseball/softball complex boasting eight fields, 10 acres of soccer fields and an 18-hole disc golf course. South Lowndes Recreation Complex houses two adult and two youth baseball/softball fields and a gym with one full-sized basketball court and two half courts. Vallotton Youth Complex offers seven youth baseball fields and a full-sized soccer field. The Harry B. Anderson Tennis Center at McKey Park contains 12 tennis courts.
