Events Erie Scores Youth Wrestling Championships ERIE, Pa.—The Erie Sports Commission announced that the Pennsylvania Junior Wrestling Championships has been awarded to Erie and the Erie Insurance Arena for 2015 and 2016. The championships will be held March 20-21, 2015, and April 1-2, 2016. More than 900 wrestlers in three age groups—8 and under, 9-10 and 11-12—are expected to participate in the event, with more than 5,000 spectators in attendance each day of the competition. Omaha To Host First U.S. Volleyball World Grand Prix Final COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.—The City of Omaha has been selected to host the Final Round of the 2015 FIVB Women's Volleyball World Grand Prix (WGP), which is the premier annual internation- al women's volleyball tourna- ment run by the International Volleyball Federation (FIVB). The Omaha Sports Commission will serve as the local organizing committee with the support of USA Volleyball, the National Governing Body for the sport. "This is huge for USA Volleyball and Team USA," U.S. Women's National Volleyball Team Head Coach Karch Kiraly said. "Outside of the Olympic Games in 1984 and 1996, this will be the first major FIVB event the USA has ever hosted. We loved playing in Omaha last fall at the NORCECA Championship, and we look forward to hosting the best teams the world has to offer in 2015." The 2015 FIVB World Grand Prix Final Round will take place July 22-26 at the CenturyLink Center Omaha, which has become a mecca of top volleyball in the United States. The CenturyLink Center Omaha, which can seat 17,000 for volleyball, hosted the 2006 and 2008 NCAA Division I Women's Volleyball Championships with sellout crowds. The CenturyLink Center Omaha also hosted the AVCA Showcase, one of the top regular season collegiate tournaments, five times in six years. Snohomish County To Host US Youth Soccer Presidents Cup FEDERAL WAY, Wash.— Washington Youth Soccer announced that Snohomish County will host the 2015 US Youth Soccer Region IV (West) Presidents Cup June 9-14, 2015, at Stocker Fields. Qualifiers from the 14 west- ern US Youth Soccer State Associations, including cham- pions of the Washington Youth Soccer Challenge Cup in the 13U – 17U boys and girls age groups, advance to the Presidents Cup. ■ Palm Beach County To Host International Women's Soccer Match PALM BEACH COUNTY, Fla.—The United States Womenʼs National Soccer Team returned to Palm Beach County to face Russia on Feb. 8 at FAU Stadium in Boca Raton. The Palm Beach County Sports Commission, United States Soccer Federation and Florida Atlantic University are partnering to host the international match, which represents the second appearance for the U.S. Womenʼs National Team in Palm Beach County during the last 14 months. ■ EVENT PASCO COUNTY, Fla.—The Pasco County commissioners approved an agreement that lays out terms under which the Fields at Wiregrass would be built and operated. Under the agreement with Blue Marble Strategic, Pasco will contribute $11 million for streets, drainage and other infrastructure while the developer would pick up the tab for construction of the athletic fields, dormi- tories, a 2,100-seat stadium, a parking garage, batting cages and other amenities. Although it would be capable of hosting lacrosse, soccer and football, the complexʼs main emphasis would be baseball, including an annual run of college baseball tourna- ments and possibly Grapefruit League or Minor League games. The venue would include nine Major League Baseball-sized fields and 10 youth-sized fields. The complex has not yet officially been named, but the agreement specifies that "Pasco" and "Wiregrass" would be included. A construction timetable had not yet been established. ■ Tampa Tribune County Closer To Getting Major Baseball Venue A new complex being proposed for Pasco County would include athletic fields, dormitories, a stadium, a parking garage, batting cages and other amenities.
